What is CoolSculpting?

It can feel utterly frustrating and deflating when no matter how much you work out or how much you follow a healthy diet, there is one (or a few) ‘problem’ areas that just doesn’t seem to respond to your efforts. Maybe it’s those extra cellulite marks on your upper thigh; maybe it’s a tiny pocket of ‘love pudge’ on your belly; or maybe, it’s a hanging bulge on your bicep.

Whatever the trouble area may be for you, it can be an annoyance that you are at a complete loss when it comes to getting rid of it. That’s where a medically certified and approved process called CoolSculpting comes in.

Cool Sculpting, technically known as Cryolipolysis, is a non-invasive medical procedure performed by trained technicians. It reshapes the contours of your body by destroying fat cells just under the skin through a localised freezing process. The cooling treatment shrinks and kills fat cells in the problem area without causing harm to the nearby skin or underlying muscle. You might ask, “What happens to those pesky fat cells that this process kills?” Our bodies do the rest of the work. With a bit of time (around 3 months), the body processes and removes the frozen fat cells, so they can never grow back.

What is the best part of this process? Besides the convenience of not having to go into hospital for surgery, and the fact that you can be in and out of the clinic in an hour, the fat cells are removed from your body, permanently. With any diet, the cells that shrink can always grow again. In essence, with the Cool Sculpting technique, you have invested in a long-term fat removal process. This might sound too good to be true, and with all the fat removal procedures out there, a fair dose of skepticism is always healthy. The reassuring factor of the CoolSculpting procedure, however, is that the science backs it up. Harvard scientists discovered that children who ate popsicles got dimples in their cheeks. What’s so great about some dimples, aside from the cuteness factor? The doctors realised that the popsicles were not only delicious, but they were actually freezing and eliminating fat deposits from the children’s cheeks. This insightful observation led to the concept of fat freezing (cryolipolysis).

Now people who have issues with fatty deposits under the skin that they would like to shrink, but have no idea how, have a medically approved option to remove unwanted fat cells for good.
